With the longer days of spring we're doing a tremendous amount of early and late imaging in order to harvest sun angles that don't exist in the fall and winter. This view south shows the location of the Boise State athletic complex relative to downtown Boise, Idaho.

One of our "specialties" is night/twilight aerial imaging, which can be either before sunrise or after sunset. These assignments require specialized equipment (stabilization) and a judicious selection of days as smooth air is an absolute necessity. This is the Edwards 21 Cinema Complex near Cole at Overland. Nice to see full parking lots...

This image of the new whitewater park in Boise is actually a "miss:" if I would have shot 5 minutes earlier the sun would have been lighting the whitewater itself (this view is south, and the shadows are progressing south). The Boise River was flowing at approximately 8,000 cubic feet per second, so the river obstacles and shoreline are underwater. Not far downriver (near Glenwood St.) the flooding was more severe.

Boise's Gowen Field, just as the sun was setting on 5/5/12. This view southeast shows the new control tower relative to the existing tower and terminal facilities. Not that although structural elevations are lit, the ground is in muted shadow: a very desirable situation for certain types of technical assignments.

Construction has begun on the new Simplot Caldwell facility. This is an incredible project that we'll be shooting for years.

There's a mistaken belief that we can't "image tight" from an airplane (this was shot from a fixed-wing airplane, not a helicopter, nor from our 71' mast): construction/repairs to Meridian City Hall.

Forensic aerial photography and videography are served well by these types of conditions: shadows are "the enemy" and are little more than obscurative unless they are required for certain shadow modeling, photogrammetric, or other interpretive exercises. Balanced conditions allow for more even exposures when imaging various directions, particularly when the sun is low in the sky (such as on early or late flights). These images were developed for interactive animations we are producing, and they'll be rotated, warped, and combined with other angles of the same subjects: drastic differences in color are typically considered objectionable in such aplications.

The infamous "Boise Hole" has been saved from it's ignominy by The Gardner Company: construction starts today (4/9/12).

Jack's Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) construction has been on for a couple of weeks, and the old train warehouse demolition is nearing completion.

We're gearing up to produce an interactive demonstration of detour routes during the upcoming construction of the Meridian Road/First St. corridors: one that will go far to resolving the concerns of local businesses concerned about the effects of the project on access and exposure for their establishments.

In 3/11 Leo A. Geis was inducted as one of 29 Master Aerial Photographers in the world. Mr. Geis is an Adobe Certified Expert in both Photoshop and Flash, and a Certified Aerial Photographer (by the Professional Aerial Photographers Association, International).
