Construction Progress on Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) in downtown Boise over the summer has been remarkable. It’s one of our favorite subjects.
Idaho Airships, Inc.’s aerial photography demonstrates some of the more intriguing aspects of the project.
The JUMP location is obvious in this night aerial photograph of downtown Boise; it’s on the left side of the frame, 1/3 of the way up. This image was captured on a night video flight on 7/30/16, and shows JUMP in relation to several other important elements of downtown Boise along Capitol Blvd.
Night aerial photography and videography-while technically challenging-is useful for aesthetic applications and for assaying architectural lighting; here’s the same image in monochrome:
Daytime shoots can be very bumpy during the heat of summer. The sun’s angle is often used to light specific elements and to shadow others; we plan flights on the sun’s azimuth and elevation when necessary.
We use some very large, long lenses to capture construction details.
