Aerial Photography in Boise, Idaho, 1/24/10
Jan 25th, 2010 by Leo A. Geis
One of this month’s most interesting shoots was the new Marianne Williams Park (still under construction, obviously) located just east of the new Parkcenter Bridge.
Here’s a “zoomable” vertical of the project. This is an important capability for demonstrating online aerial photography, which is by necessity of very high resolution. In fact, this image is a relatively small one at 185 MegaBytes, but it pops into focus quite quickly. We’re doing more and more of these to deliver products to customers who want to post high resolution images online but who can’t tolerate the long waits normally associated with large file transfers. Our friends over at Valley Air Photos also have this capability.
By the way, we’re also using more and more of these types of small-area vertical data sets to update Google Earth when we program against their API in Flash ActionScript.
Use the controls at the bottom of the image to zoom in and out or to pan around in the image.
This 70 acre project is a cooperative between the city of Boise and our good friends at Brighton Corp.
