Idaho Airships, Inc. Does Something Artistic…Intentionally!
Aug 25th, 2008 by Leo A. Geis
I’d love to have the aptitude for “art.” As it is, I have a family to feed and simply can’t stand the whining when they’re hungry, so I’ll focus on the technical work for now. However, every once in a while my more “creative” side wins an argument…
I got up this morning at 3:00am, studied for a while (Flash Development), and left the house at 5:00am. By the time the sun was coming up were were over the mountains in central Idaho near where a few fires are burning. The combination of a cloudy sunrise, mountains, and smoke in the canyons was simply too much to pass up…even though I had paying jobs in Pocatello, Twin Falls, and Ketchum.
Shooting straight into the sun is usually considered pretty stupid. That’s never scared me away from anything, obviously, so here’s the sunrise from about 9,000 feet above sea level over the mountains southeast of Hailey, Idaho.
This image was shot just a bit earlier before that above-before the sun was over the horizon. It shows a long valley filled with forest fire smoke that had settled during the night. I did do a significant amount of prep work on this one (about 15 minutes) and forwarded to some friends who are accomplished artists.
They are all in the hospital now. My “art” to an real artist is like Kryptonite to Superman or Water to the Wicked Witch of Whatever.
I’m going to print them all “Get Well” cards, and on the front, I’m going to put an image like this one:
Ain’t I thoughtful?
