This aerial of the new Royal Plaza in downtown Boise is a bit of a hybrid-both an aerial and classic architectural exercise. The real trick on this shoot was to have the structure properly lit and to keep adjacent structures or their shadows from obscuring any of the subject-no small task.

You’ll notice (please) that there is no Keystone Distortion in this image-the building doesn’t tilt or converge at all. The slightly oblique angle (not shooting straight into the entry) is intentional, since the Owyhee Hotel is about to enter the frame from the left (it actually obscures the subject in the next frame in the series).
We have blocked off streets to prevent vehicles in such images, but the bicyclist and pedestrians…they would be left up to Photoshop.
We’re planning the dusk image now.
