Aerial Photography in Idaho, 2007
Jan 13th, 2008 by Leo Geis
At the end of each calendar year we archive and index all of that period’s aerial, architectural, construction, engineering, forensic, and other photography and video. It’s a tremendous task requiring a couple of days-even with batch processing capabilities and very powerful computers.
We have three separate archives of our (your) images stored between various computers and in a fireproof safe on DVD’s.
There is a selection of aerial and architectural photographs from around Idaho posted in our Gallery in the Assorted 2007 Album (use the lower right button and navigate to Screen 3). They aren’t a “Best Of” or “Most Interesting” collection, by any means-but they are of subjects that promise to be of special interest in 2008. For example, there are aerial images of Jerome Cheese, Horseshoe Bend, Tamarack Ski Resort, Idaho Power, BoDo, and the Gowen Field (Boise Airport) Terminal.
Aerial photography across Idaho is (as it is with several of the western states) particularly interesting. At 150 miles per hour it’s a very short trip from the Sawtooth Range to Craters of the Moon and then to the Snake River Canyon. In effect, you can be in towering, snow capped mountains, intimidating lava flows, then desolate high desert in about half an hour. The weather is no less dynamic than the scenery.
A Happy & Prosperous 2008 to all!
Shot in September of 2005, this image demonstrates the phenomenum of a “Sunshine Slowdown” along westbound Interstate 84 approaching the Five Mile overpass.
